As always, as soon as Apple launches it’s newest “it” item, everyone else wants in on the action. Let me first start by saying that, for me, nothing has come close to replicating the sleek, simple and elegant designs and products that Apple comes up with. With that being said, HP is preparing to launch its version of the iPad called the HP Slate. For anyone who is seriously behind on the tech times, the iPad and Slate are basically giant versions of the iPhone/iPod Touch with the capabilities of a computer, while being extremely portable… and pretty. Very, very pretty.
Some of the features, I will admit are a little more tempting with the Slate such as two built in webcams, one with photo taking capabilities and the other with video capability for video calling. The HP Slate also comes with a handy SD card reader and USB port. However, with great power comes great responsibility, and by that I mean there are some crappy downsides like the HP Slate has approximately 5 hours of battery life to the iPads 10+ hours. Plus it only retails for about $50 less than the iPad, begging the question “Is it really worth it?”
